Okay, so I have never been a huge fan of the word clearance. I know it makes budget conscious and bargain obsessed people giddy, but it just seems like a dirty word?
The definition alone:
clearance: clear·ance [kleer-uhns]
noun Also called clearance sale. the disposal of merchandise at reduced prices to make room for new goods: He bought the coat for half price at a clearance.
I have to say, the fact that “disposal” is in the definition makes me feel uneasy. Disposal makes me think of throwing something away, and I certainly am not in that mindset. I am more in the mindset of the part that says “reduced prices to make room for new goods” But, as I am clearing out my stock that is currently in my Etsy store, I can’t think of another word to describe what I am doing other then “clearance” There is nothing wrong with the merchandise, except it isn’t really what I want to be selling anymore. I think I have reached a new point with Ink Meets Paper, and the product I am currently working on is more in line with where I am at now. I have changed my logo, my website, and I think it’s about time that I change up my product as well.
I have so much new product! I have been working with new papers, new styles of jewelry, and new printing methods. I want to be able to separate the old version of Ink Meets Paper from the new, and the only way to do that is to clear out my old product. I even toyed with not changing the logo of the Etsy store, until I had cleared the merchandise out, but the OCD in me made me twitch when I thought of not having a consistent look streamlined throughout all of the ways to search for me.
So, basically I think I am trying to say that you should not feel that my clearance is a sign of my product being sub-par, or less then desirable, but think of it as a great deal, and a great way to move my new product in.
Once I do clear out my old product, and the new goes in, it will include various sizes and shapes of jewelry, including pendants that can be worn as a necklace or used as a key chain, earrings of both the dangle and stud variety, and rings. I will have new books in different sizes and amazing papers, and most exciting, I will have greeting cards and stationery!
So, head on over to my Etsy store – you can use that handy dandy tab at the top of the website, and it will take you right there, and stock up on as many products as you can, because they are ALL only THREE DOLLARS. That’s right, you read it right! Everything is $3.00. What a bargain!
